About Michael Kapp Health Coach

About

Michael's Story

Michael Kapp is a cancer survivor, professional athlete, Master Scuba Instructor and passionate health coach. He became an integrative nutrition health coach because, having overcome a number of different health challenges (e.g. cancer, a near fatal car accident, acute head pain syndrome, and severe weight gain), he knew he could help others achieve their health goals. Overcoming adversity is part of his DNA. At 14 years old, he had thyroid cancer. At 22, he lost a brother to leukemia. At 24, he was in a near fatal car accident.

Following a 15-year career in the financial industry, Michael decided life was too short not to pursue his passions. So, he began coaching young athletes in the sport he loved, lacrosse. For nine years, Michael was the Head Coach of University of Arizona Women’s Lacrosse Team.

So how is coaching lacrosse and being a health coach similar?

“Whether your goal is winning a championship, losing a few pounds or sleeping through the night, the journey includes positivity, hard work and a readiness to conquer the obstacles… plus an understanding and inspiring coach.”

Michael has coached literally thousands of people, but he knew he needed more education to adapt his skills to this new arena. That came when he graduated from the Duke University School of Integrative Medicine. Michael also graduated from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

What are you most proud of?

“Getting a team to the playoffs has been gratifying and fun, but helping people conquer life’s many complicated challenges is the ultimate reward.”

Creation of MAK Coaching Name

We all draw inspiration from those around us. The story of the name MAK Coaching Is not super interesting, but it is meaningful to me. My wife, Angela, is the most inspiring, encouraging and supportive person in my life. I couldn’t imagine a successful Integrative health coaching practice, without her inspiration. Each time we look at the name MAK Coaching, I’m reminded that I must be inspirational, encouraging and supportive to each of my clients every day. The “A” in MAK Coaching represents my wife Angela… my inspiration.
